About Julie
Julie has a Masters Degree in Consciousness Studies. She has more than 30 years of experience in acute care and home health hospice care working with people who are dying and their families.
Experiencing the healing power of QiGong after a significant back injury, Julie studied and became a Holden QiGong Certified Instructor. She has a passion for sharing the beautiful and powerful practice of QiGong through her weekly classes both online and in person.
As an educator, Julie is a former faculty member of California Northstate College of Medicine teaching Hospice and Palliative Care as well as Sacramento City College in the Department of Psychology teaching Death and Dying. Julie is the author of The Power of the Broken-Open Heart, Life-Affirming Wisdom from the Dying.
Julie has a certification through the University of Minnesota in Understanding and Applying Ambiguous Loss, which is particularly helpful in working with those who are caring for a loved one with dementia or other long-term debilitating disease.
Julie is a student of the Tao and mystics from all walks of life. She loves learning and practices the art of Haiku and Japanese Calligraphy, Shodo.
Daily QiGong in her backyard QiHouse, morning walks and gardening ground her day in nature. Watching hummingbirds, finches, blue jays, and black phoebes bathe in the backyard delight her. She is married to the love of her life, Ross, and together they create their life which includes their labradoodle, Eddy, and their cats Bodhi and Finnegan.
